Across the Universe

I'm officially in love with the movie "Across the Universe".  It was my soundtrack for the weekend and made me feel better about the world.  Why wouldn't it?  The songs are all by the Beatles!!! :)  I'm a Beatlemaniac.  I love their songs, if not all of them, then ALMOST all.  I can't think of one song I don't like actually, nor can I think of JUST ONE FAVORITE.  *sigh*

I know I'm late in the game with this movie having been released a couple years ago, but better late than never.  :D  Now I'm bordering obssession.  hehehe!

I heart it.  Or rather, STRAWBERRY IT.

And who knew Evan Rachel Wood could sing?  I like her voice, even if I'm not a big fan of her in general.  I love her version of "If I Fell".  It adds a whole other layer to the emotion of the song in her version.

They all look so happy.

Then there was this other chica who I'm pretty sure I have a girl crush on.

TV Carpio.  She played Prudence, who turns out to be a lesbian.  She sang the best remake of "I Wanna Hold Your Hand" ever.  EVER.

But. BUT. BUT.  I am truly, madly and deeply in love with this fellow:

Jim Sturgess.  I liked you in "21".  I fell in love with you in "Across the Universe".  *sigh*

The cameos of Bono, Eddie Izzard and Salma Hayek were genius too.  Bono's version of "I Am the Walrus" is, was sheer awesomeness.

There.  I'm done sharing the strawberries I have for this movie.  *sigh*

New York or London?

I've lately been feeling the wanderlust more than usual.  I guess it's because also of the season.  This season doesn't seem right to be all hot and stinky.  I would like to be in crisp cold weather.  Autumn, I miss that season.  All the colors, the brisk walking that comes with it, the golden hue to the world.

Of course when it comes to places, the two favorite places I have lived comes to mind, which are New York City and London.  I miss them both.  Now that the wanderlust has taken over, I'm trying to imagine myself where I'd rather be.  My heart is in London, my soul is in New York.

I guess I'm just a traveler.  In my head.

Though recently the desire to move out of this country has taken hold of me.  Again.  But I think that sadly, this may be permanent move, IF I do move.  I'll give myself til next year to decide and save up.  After all the troubles of this year, I need to save up first.

For now, before I make any decisions, I will just look at pictures.

Though it does seem different without the twin towers.  :(

Aaaaaaaaah London.  And the Thames.  Wow, what I wouldn't give to go back.  Then again, I have nothing right now.  But then, well, you know what I mean.

*SIGH*

Trying to get into the holiday spirit

This is what started my brainstorming.

via Apartment Therapy

I wanted to do something for the holidays.  So I decided to make these snowflakes instead.  I'm not into religious figures around my home at anytime of year, especially during the hols, and christmas fairy lights would just wreak havoc on my electrical bill, so I settled for snowflakes.

It's cheap, DIY and pretty.

and the finished front door.

I decided to do it on my front door because my walls are made of cement and I was doubtful that I could push in the thumbtacks into it. WARNING: Your thumbs may ache after all the tacking. :)

Happy holidays!!! :)

BOOK CLUB

My first official BOOK for the recently formed BOOK CLUB PH is:

THE ONCE AND FUTURE KING!!!

I am excited :D  I've read this before, but it was so long ago I want to reread it. :)

SICK AGAIN!!!!

I'm now home, on a FRIDAY, because I have an infection in BOTH my ears, my sinuses are shot and my nose is all torn up.  I'm back on antibiotics / steroids and I'm now poorer than I've ever been in my life.  EVER.

It's harder on me that I have to pay for all these meds than the actual sickness is.  And it's all coming out all at the same time!  What the F man.

I knew this year could get worse than it already has!  :(  *SIGH*

Please let this end already.  I want some good juju.  GOOD VIBES ALL AROUND.

At least I can now watch all the DVDs around the house.  Also reread "The Once and Future King" for the book club.

That and the thought of work is keeping me going.  I got a new laptop.  For work.  That's what is keeping me going.   It's pretty. :)

This will be a test of my strength.  My stubbornness.  It will all work out, I hope.  Will just keep the faith that I can muddle through this holiday.  I feel guilty not being able to give gifts to people I care about this year.  That's one thing I liked about the holiday, picking out gifts.

Anyway.  I gotta come up with a scheme to get a truck so I can move in a new fridge and aircon :)

Christmas

I'm not one to get into any kind of Christmas spirit, not for a long while now.  Maybe it's because I don't have kids in my life, and therefore the magic is gone.  The traffic, commercialism, stress that comes with it all, all the annoying stuff about the holidays come to mind before the meaning of the holiday itself.

And this from a girl who didn't find out Santa wasn't real until she was 12 (nearing 13) years old, and had "The Polar Express" as her favorite childhood book.

Now all I can say is BAH HUMBUG.  BAH BAH BAH, HUMBUG HUMBUG HUMBUG.

I like this holiday for the vacation it gives, which sadly never lasts very long.

Then again, after this year, I'm partly welcoming it, seeing as this will mean the year is almost up and the new one can begin.  Now THAT I'm excited for.

To not be TOO much of a Scrooge, I've decided to put something inexpensive up as Christmas decor to help the good juju flow along through my windows and doors.  It will be made by thumbtacks and white paper.  I'm sorry to the blog that posted this picture, I've forgotten where I got it.  If the owner of this picture will eve find me, please let me know and I will make the proper footnote. :)  Thank you.

(UPDATE! It's from HERE...whew!)

Now, THIS is pretty and simple:

Isn't it lovely?  Simple and yet....it'll do for my door outside I reckon.  Since I miss the cold (and yes, even the snow...it's terribly hot here), I decided this would be a cute little thing I can add to my outside door without looking all Christmas-ed out.  It will still look pretty. :)

Anyway, I will look for and buy some thumbtacks and white paper tomorrow.

PS.  I've noticed that this is the 96th entry.  4 more and I will monetize and publicize this blog.  Let's see how that will work out.  Fingers crossed.

Nasty JUJU

Finally found a song that can convey how the state of my mind for the last few weeks has been.  Actually, my state of mind the entire year.  One tragedy after the other.

I'm holding on.

It's about that time to sing along.
