SICK AGAIN!!!!

I'm now home, on a FRIDAY, because I have an infection in BOTH my ears, my sinuses are shot and my nose is all torn up.  I'm back on antibiotics / steroids and I'm now poorer than I've ever been in my life.  EVER.

It's harder on me that I have to pay for all these meds than the actual sickness is.  And it's all coming out all at the same time!  What the F man.

I knew this year could get worse than it already has!  :(  *SIGH*

Please let this end already.  I want some good juju.  GOOD VIBES ALL AROUND.

At least I can now watch all the DVDs around the house.  Also reread "The Once and Future King" for the book club.

That and the thought of work is keeping me going.  I got a new laptop.  For work.  That's what is keeping me going.   It's pretty. :)

This will be a test of my strength.  My stubbornness.  It will all work out, I hope.  Will just keep the faith that I can muddle through this holiday.  I feel guilty not being able to give gifts to people I care about this year.  That's one thing I liked about the holiday, picking out gifts.

Anyway.  I gotta come up with a scheme to get a truck so I can move in a new fridge and aircon :)

Long time entry....THANKSGIVING

It feels like it's been such a long time since I posted last.  I will try and do this justice by bullet points.  The short version of the story is that these last 2-3 weeks have been absolutely crap.  Let me emphasize that: ABSOLUTELY FULL OF CRAP.

Let me begin:

  • I went to the beach and got a really REALLY bad allergic reaction to food, which sent me straight to the doctor on literally, another island.  Got back to Manila had to have checkups and I was on meds.

  • A week later, drama ensued when C was nowhere to be found.  This part is his story, but I will say that those were the worst, and I mean WORST 12 hours of my life.  Not knowing where someone is, is NOT BLOODY COOL.

  • On top of all these anxiety attacks, plus those that come when the bills and rent statements come in, I had to bring myself to the ER twice in a span of 8 hours last Friday.  A rash last week kept spreading and though they kept shooting me up with steroids, it came back later on that night...which led to me being admitted into the hospital (by the insistence of C and the docs) for the weekend.  All glorious fun.  I'm now on hospital grade meds til next week.  They will have to test me next week as to what I'm allergic to since they couldn't do it this weekend.  The reason is that if they had added more allergens (?) into my system, however small, it could just send me into a coma style allergic reaction because I was hypersensitive already.  To add onto that, they found a slight infection from the urinalysis.

*SIGH*

Thanksgiving is today.  I'm going to say that I'm thankful for still being alive despite all this; being able to maintain relationships with my family and friends where they still love me, and for the music.  ALWAYS the music.  If not for the music, I would be clawing at walls now.   To list some of the other things I'm thankful for:

  • I'm thankful for my kitties who keep me company even though I know they only see me as a food dispenser / bed / tummy scratcher.

  • For "Mad Men" and "West Wing" for being intelligent escapes.

  • For the internet that endlessly keeps me entertained with fluff.

  • Aromatherapy for making my nose happy.

  • Medicines that keep whatever is wrong with me at bay.

  • My new job which I hope will start paying soon.

  • Canned goods and microwave jalapeno popcorn.

  • C for letting me in.

  • Water - which I will now treat as my siamese twin.

  • Cigarettes - my ugliest and filthiest habit, and favorite (and only) vice.  You suck, cigarettes, but I love you, all at the same time.

  • The holiday season, which is letting me know that slowly, but surely, this horrible year is coming to an end.

  • Thankful for thanksgiving today to mark the long weekend ahead.

Hope you all have a good Thanksgiving, whomever is reading this.  :)

Moderation Monday

I'm personally thanking the heavens that on Friday night, today was declared a non-working holidiay. WHEW.  Now I can get over this stupid sickness that's been brought about by just too much going out.  I have realised that YES.  I am not as young as I used to be and however much my mind is willing, the body cannot (and will dig its heels in if it has to), and WILL not follow.  Even if I cajole it with a nice midnight snack to soften the blow.

So today I have decided to schedule my yearly alcohol fast, wherein one whole month, I will not drink alcohol.  Now this may seem natural to you, and that I'm just being an alcoholic, but it's true, most times I go out, I tend to have a beer, or four.  Each year, I try and remedy that by giving my liver a break before the MAJOR holidays and take a month off.  I've decided that this year it will be done by end of this month and it'll run into October.

I'll make sure though that by Halloween, I can have a beer again.  I am planning a prod after all for around that time.  I'd like to be able to drink at least A LITTLE.  I should just moderate it PERIOD.

I have done NOTHING of what I set out to do this weekend, except for help with the dinner that we had on Saturday night here in the house.  I made the salad and the mash, which went great with E's chicken.  WOW. His chicken was the best thing he's ever cooked.  EVER.

Anyway, I will rest up today because I feel so so awful and get on with my week tomorrow when everything opens again. :)  I hope by that time I'll be ok too.
