Christmas

I'm not one to get into any kind of Christmas spirit, not for a long while now.  Maybe it's because I don't have kids in my life, and therefore the magic is gone.  The traffic, commercialism, stress that comes with it all, all the annoying stuff about the holidays come to mind before the meaning of the holiday itself.

And this from a girl who didn't find out Santa wasn't real until she was 12 (nearing 13) years old, and had "The Polar Express" as her favorite childhood book.

Now all I can say is BAH HUMBUG.  BAH BAH BAH, HUMBUG HUMBUG HUMBUG.

I like this holiday for the vacation it gives, which sadly never lasts very long.

Then again, after this year, I'm partly welcoming it, seeing as this will mean the year is almost up and the new one can begin.  Now THAT I'm excited for.

To not be TOO much of a Scrooge, I've decided to put something inexpensive up as Christmas decor to help the good juju flow along through my windows and doors.  It will be made by thumbtacks and white paper.  I'm sorry to the blog that posted this picture, I've forgotten where I got it.  If the owner of this picture will eve find me, please let me know and I will make the proper footnote. :)  Thank you.

(UPDATE! It's from HERE...whew!)

Now, THIS is pretty and simple:

Isn't it lovely?  Simple and yet....it'll do for my door outside I reckon.  Since I miss the cold (and yes, even the snow...it's terribly hot here), I decided this would be a cute little thing I can add to my outside door without looking all Christmas-ed out.  It will still look pretty. :)

Anyway, I will look for and buy some thumbtacks and white paper tomorrow.

PS.  I've noticed that this is the 96th entry.  4 more and I will monetize and publicize this blog.  Let's see how that will work out.  Fingers crossed.

Nasty JUJU

Finally found a song that can convey how the state of my mind for the last few weeks has been.  Actually, my state of mind the entire year.  One tragedy after the other.

I'm holding on.

It's about that time to sing along.

Long time entry....THANKSGIVING

It feels like it's been such a long time since I posted last.  I will try and do this justice by bullet points.  The short version of the story is that these last 2-3 weeks have been absolutely crap.  Let me emphasize that: ABSOLUTELY FULL OF CRAP.

Let me begin:

  • I went to the beach and got a really REALLY bad allergic reaction to food, which sent me straight to the doctor on literally, another island.  Got back to Manila had to have checkups and I was on meds.

  • A week later, drama ensued when C was nowhere to be found.  This part is his story, but I will say that those were the worst, and I mean WORST 12 hours of my life.  Not knowing where someone is, is NOT BLOODY COOL.

  • On top of all these anxiety attacks, plus those that come when the bills and rent statements come in, I had to bring myself to the ER twice in a span of 8 hours last Friday.  A rash last week kept spreading and though they kept shooting me up with steroids, it came back later on that night...which led to me being admitted into the hospital (by the insistence of C and the docs) for the weekend.  All glorious fun.  I'm now on hospital grade meds til next week.  They will have to test me next week as to what I'm allergic to since they couldn't do it this weekend.  The reason is that if they had added more allergens (?) into my system, however small, it could just send me into a coma style allergic reaction because I was hypersensitive already.  To add onto that, they found a slight infection from the urinalysis.

*SIGH*

Thanksgiving is today.  I'm going to say that I'm thankful for still being alive despite all this; being able to maintain relationships with my family and friends where they still love me, and for the music.  ALWAYS the music.  If not for the music, I would be clawing at walls now.   To list some of the other things I'm thankful for:

  • I'm thankful for my kitties who keep me company even though I know they only see me as a food dispenser / bed / tummy scratcher.

  • For "Mad Men" and "West Wing" for being intelligent escapes.

via 1,2

  • For the internet that endlessly keeps me entertained with fluff.

  • Aromatherapy for making my nose happy.

  • Medicines that keep whatever is wrong with me at bay.

  • My new job which I hope will start paying soon.

  • Canned goods and microwave jalapeno popcorn.

  • C for letting me in.

  • Water - which I will now treat as my siamese twin.

  • Cigarettes - my ugliest and filthiest habit, and favorite (and only) vice.  You suck, cigarettes, but I love you, all at the same time.

  • The holiday season, which is letting me know that slowly, but surely, this horrible year is coming to an end.

  • Thankful for thanksgiving today to mark the long weekend ahead.

Hope you all have a good Thanksgiving, whomever is reading this.  :)

I've decided

I've decided that I want long flowy hair.  MAYBE with bangs.  I'm still trying to decide that.  Something in the Zooey Deschanel/Katy Perry arena.  Hmmmm.  To bang or not to bang?

Also...

My band the Marshas and I played our FIRST EVER GIG last night.  Twas fun. :)  I've forgotten how it felt to be on stage, playing your heart out.  The tiredness that comes from that is so rewarding.  :D:D:D  I LOVE YOU BAND MATES!!!

HEART HEART HEART. :)

Hopes for the New Year

I've already come up with some resolutions for this upcoming year.  Here I go....AGAIN.

I will try and follow this book:

you can order it here from Amazon

I've had several goes at this book, but I think this time it'll stick.  I'm older now and whether or not I like it, I need to start taking care of myself.  *SIGH*  I will not say "here's hoping" this time.  I will say INSTEAD "LET'S GET IT ON."

Apart from that, I'm seriously in need to fixing finances. SERIOUSLY. IN. NEED.  What I mean is, I have nothing anywhere near a savings account.  I had an account that I didn't touch for a couple of years, and due to this past (and very crappy) year, I have had to dip into it and now it is all gone.  So next year, start from scratch.  Every centavo accounted for, all expenditures looked into.  I will also seriously look into life insurance.  My friend and neighbor E is looking into it himself and over coffee this afternoon, he was telling about his little plan to put a bit aside.  When he reaches 45, he'll still be earning and living comfortably, if he retires.  I want that.  I want to be able to say that.  I don't mind working, it is just a matter of finding something that will earn at this point.  I can't run around ragged anymore and not get anything in return for it.

Anyway, some thoughts on a Saturday night in.  Things worth looking into and following up.

Man I hate being a grown up. :(

Monday is fun again

I haven't been blogging recently because I've just been caught up in a series of stuff, between projects with friends, tying up loose ends at my OLD job, starting the NEW one, volunteering to help with my bro's campaign and trying to catch my breath for a vacation getaway, I'm sorry I haven't been too up to speed here.

:( Seriously, my bad.

Today is the first Monday that I've had in a long time that really rocks.  I had a great meeting with my sister and her staff for some online properties we're both helping my brother with.  It's exciting.  I'm still on a mission to get him to dance so we can post it online.  I don't think he'll let us.  hhehehe!

I've also had my first briefing of my new job today.  Though at first, it seemed like I'm in over my head, I know it's something I truly want to learn, and the business side of it is just as fun as I will want it to be.  It sure as heck won't be easy, that's what I can see so far, but it will be quite the adventure.  What I've been offered with this new job isn't just MORE in the benefits and salary and whatnot (though it IS that), but also I know I'm going to end up learning a WHOLE lot more.  I seriously cannot wait.  :)  My next briefing is on Wednesday.

This weekend's trip to the beach was great, if only I didn't have the worst allergy attack of my life wherein I had to hassle the 3 other ladies I was with to take me to a doctor that was in the neighboring island.  My eyes were weird for about 48hours, but aside from that, the drugs knocked me out cold and I was a happy and sober camper.  Since I've just gotten off the 'roids that the island doctor prescribed me, I need to get myself to another doctor for a checkup tomorrow just to be sure everything is on the up and up because somehow, I've now developed a cough.  GRRRR.

I missed C and the kitties though, and as much as I loved the trip (minus the stupid allergy scare) I was really happy to come home last night to them :)

I have the flat all to myself tonight, with just the kitties since C has to take care of stuff tomorrow he's staying over his parents' house.  So I have decided to come back and say HOWDY, check up on the blogs I'm following and have been trying to get myself acquainted with Twitter.  I said I'd never do it.  Never say never eh? :)  I need to study it and be on it if I want to get my brother on it for his campaign.

Exciting times ahead.  And that's not even counting CHRISTMAS! :)  Though, I hate Christmas (it's a madhouse here in the Philippines!!!) for all its commercial glory, I love it for the vacation time.  But wow, it's come up again and a whole year has just whooshed on by.  DAMN.

I love this mixtape from one of my favorite blogs.  I think I've posted her before.  Click HERE to listen to her mixed tape :)

I am also loving this SITE.

If you guys want to follow me on Twitter (I can't believe I'm TYPING this), I'm drummergirl2578.

I'm also trying to get tickets for the Katy Perry concert this weekend.  Only I don't think anyone wants to come with me.  Ah well. :)

Today I'm thankful for new beginnings and the potential of the future. :)
