WHATTA BAND ROOM!!!!!

HOOOWAW.

WOWOWOWOWOWOW.

I like.

The Proust Questionnaire

Found this in an old blog EXACTLY a year ago today and thought I'd repost.  The answers are pretty much the same anyway. :)

I've been a fan of Vanity Fair for a while now, and I love the last page of it where it has what they call the "Proust Questionnaire" and it is usually answered by some interesting figure from entertainment, or politics, or anyone who seems to be willing to spill their guts out to the readership. Anyway, I've somewhat brazenly always wanted to do it (either answer the Proust Questionnaire for Vanity Fair, or WRITE it and any other thing for them), even if I no celebrity by any means nor have I made some sort of indelible mark in this world outside of being able to consume things equal to my weight. Since there's also been an overwhelming trend to do these sorts of questionnaires, I decided to combine the two.

Anyway, I found it on the Vanity Fair website and decided to do it myself. :) That's one dream down I suppose :)

"The Proust Questionnaire has its origins in a parlor game popularized (though not devised) by Marcel Proust, the French essayist and novelist, who believed that, in answering these questions, an individual reveals his or her true nature. Here is the basic Proust Questionnaire."

1. What is your idea of perfect happiness?
Having the freedom to be able to do what I want, and doing something for the betterment of others. And a Sunday wherein I don't have to do anything I don't wanna.

2. What is your greatest fear?
The dark

3. What is the trait you most deplore in yourself?
That I can flit from one thing to another, which sometimes results in me not being able to finish what I've started. Oh and a smoker. CIGARETTE SMOKER.

4. What is the trait you most deplore in others?
Deliberate ignorance, lack of integrity, arrogance and those who aren't polite or have manners. Being late is not fashionable, it's being rude.

5. Which living person do you most admire?
My mother, Gang Badoy, my 3 best friends, Filipino musicians, and those people who will go through hardship to prove that what is right is not necessarily what is easy.

6. What is your greatest extravagance?
Coffee, carbs and cabs.

7. What is your current state of mind?
Surprisingly steady, seeing as I have 4-5 things due tomorrow.

8. What do you consider the most overrated virtue?
Chastity, patience and religious fanaticism of any kind.

9. On what occasion do you lie?
I don't, unless I'm talking to a child about fairies, dragons, mermaids, Santa Claus and magic. But then again, those things are still real to me.

10. What do you most dislike about your appearance?
My height and my flat feet.

11. Which living person do you most despise?
Those who try to convert me into thinking that what they think and believe in is the end all be all to everything and therefore is the only way to be. Also, ABUSERS of any kind.

12. What is the quality you most like in a man?
 Integrity, kindness, wit and humor.

13. What is the quality you most like in a woman?
Intergrity, kindness, wit and humor.

14. Which words or phrases do you most overuse?
"You know what I mean?" "Honestly...." "Really?" and "I love you".

15. What or who is the greatest love of your life?
My freedom, my 3 bestest friends, La Famiglia, words and music.

16. When and where were you happiest?
I'm usually on a beach or in the middle of trees when this happens.

17. Which talent would you most like to have?
To play jazz and blues fluently on any instrument, play the cello, be able to write like Tom Robbins, and to have patience.

18. If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?
Maybe to not get on the case of people who are late. Patience is not a virtue I do well with.

19. What do you consider your greatest achievement?
Being able to survive on my own two feet and earning everything I've got. Being able to rent my own flat, pay my own bills and have my happiness rest solely on me and no one else.

20. If you were to die and come back as a person or a thing, what would it be?
I'd like to come back as a person, but if not, I'd like to come back as a house dog or cat, or maybe a lion in Africa.

21. Where would you most like to live?
New York or London. Then I'd ideally be able to flit between them, and go home from time to time to Ilocos Norte.

22. What is your most treasured possession?
My journals, pictures, my health and sanity.

23. What do you regard as the lowest depth of misery?
Dispair, especially over a loved one's health and the helplessness and/or frustration when you realise you can't help any more than you have.

24. What is your favorite occupation?
Daydreaming, wondering, imagining and writing.

25. What is your most marked characteristic?
I think it's my sense of humor. It can range from being really disgusting, to really shallow.

26. What do you most value in your friends?
Integrity, intelligence, sense of humor, loyalty and the brutal way that they can be honest even when I don't want to hear it.

27. Who are your favorite writers?
Tom Robbins, Jose Garcia Villa, JK Rowling, CS Lewis, Neruda, Salman Rushdie, Kooky Tuason, Therese Endriga, Jessica Zafra, Erwin Romulo, Shakespeare, Hemmingway, ee Cummings.....to name a few. And most songwriters, lyricists....Cole Porter comes to mind, as well as Gershwin. Aia de Leon, the Eheads, Rico Blanco, Anabel Bosch and my daddy. There are really too many to mention, but that's the shortlist. haha!

28. Who is your hero of fiction?
Samwise Gamgee, Lyra Silvertongue, Harry Potter, Ludo (Helen DeWitt's protagonist in "the last samurai"), the Old Man of Hemmingway, Balthazar Bastian Bux.

29. Which historical figure do you most identify with?
John Lennon, Elizabeth I and Gabriela Silang.  I don't know WHY.

30. Who are your heroes in real life?
My parents, and anyone who's overcome adversity in their lives, and/or have done something to help others out.

31. What are your favorite names?
Ashen, Sabian, Ella, Alix, Alex and all its forms. I also like the Elven names in the Tolkien books.

32. What is it that you most dislike?
Lack of discipline and manners, lack of integrity, poverty, war, greed and indifference to things in the world.

33. What is your greatest regret?
I have none. Remose maybe, but never regret. I'm the type of person that would rather do something and fail or be embarrassed tremendously, than NOT do something and end up regretting THAT.

34. How would you like to die?
Without pain, and having been able to say everything I needed to say to those who matter, preferably in my sleep, after a kickass meal, that's outdoors, either by the water or a forest. Green and blue hues need to be in there.

35. What is your motto?
"Nothing worth it ever came easy." "There's a B side to every story." AND "Do unto others as you would have done unto you."

YEAH.   Thus far, it hasn't changed in a year. :)
